Job Match and the Farm Labour Pool
Job Match
Our Job Match Services contacts employers throughout the Niagara Region finding out what kinds of skills and employees they are looking for. Job Match staff matches the employer's needs with clients who have supplied us with a current resume and references.
There are only three requirements for this service:
You must be eligible to work in Canada
You must have an updated resume and references
You must be seriously looking for work
Farm Labour Pool Niagara
Year round service that assists people looking for work in agriculture and horticulture and the local farm employers to meet their staffing demand. You must be 14 years of age or older and legally entitled to work in Canada.
We can assist you to find:
Casual Work: Day to day jobs
Relief Work: Skilled workers for temporary periods
Seasonal Work: Short term for a few months
Year Round Work: In greenhouses, nurseries, and on large farms

Smart Serve
The Employment Help Centre, in conjunction with the Niagara Women's Enterprise Centre, hosts Smart Serve Ontario. All persons who are looking for work in the area where alcoholic beverages are served should be trained. This includes security and door staff. You will receive the Smart Serve Ontario Certification and pin on successful completion of this course. |
WHMIS Training
The Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is Canada's national hazard communication standard. The key elements of the system are cautionary labelling of containers of WHMIS "controlled products", the provision of material safety data sheets (MSDS’s) and worker education and training programs. You will receive a certificate upon successful completion of the training.

Computer Beginner Workshop
You will learn the basic operation of a computer, including how to use the mouse and to create a folder.
Computer Basic Internet Workshop
You will learn to set up an e-mail account, how to put attachments to their e-mail and to surf the Internet.
Computer Basic Word Workshop
You will be introduced to Word where you'll learn how to cut and paste, format and edit documents and you will get to put into practice what you learned by creating your own Job Search Disk. This is a good learning option for those wanting to create and edit their own resumes and cover letters.

Resume
You will learn how to put their best foot forward with what is probably their first contact with a prospective employer.
