What are your hours of operation?
Each office is open from 8:30AM to 4:30PM. We remain open during lunch hours. ![]()
Is there a cost for services?
No. Our services are free. ![]()
Is there an age criteria to receive assistance from the EHC?
Job search and career assistance are available to anyone over the age of 16 and those legally eligible to work in Ontario. ![]()
Are you an employment agency?
No. We are not an employment agency; we are a help centre. We provide you with the tools to build your job seeking and career planning skills. ![]()
Can I have access to computers, the Internet, fax machines and printers?
Yes. They are specifically for job-related use and are free! ![]()
How will I know which office I should contact for my employment needs?
The Province of Ontario has ensured that all employment services are accessible within any agency location to any job seeker. As such, an individual should access a facility in a geographic area that is most convenient for them. ![]()
Do you offer virtual services?
Yes. We have a Virtual Employment Advisor who is able to assist you with your job search via email. Visit our Employment Advising section for more information on eligibility and how to access our virtual services. ![]()
Do I have to write a cover letter every time I send my resume?
Yes! A cover letter describes the applicant's skills, abilities and experience in a way that the resume does not convey. This gives the candidate an opportunity to expand on specific skills and experience, showing they are the "perfect match" for the position. General information may stay the same in the letter, but the skill set summary should be tailored towards the job description. ![]()
My friend used your services and you gave her a job in a couple of weeks. Why aren't you calling me with a job?
EHC's goal is to assist clients in securing long-term sustainable employment. EHC works with clients to develop personalized Employment Service Plans. Based on these plans, there are a variety of program service options that are chosen and tailored for each Employment Service Plan. Each client has different needs. Each path to employment will vary, but the goal remains the same -- employment. ![]()
Does EHC have funds for my training/educational costs?
Our Employment Advisors assist individuals to identify their financial assistance options. Meet with an Employment Advisor to learn of of your options. ![]()
Can you help me get my occupational licence to practice my profession in Canada?
Yes! Our Employment Advisors are experienced in helping skilled immigrants move forward through Canadian licensure/certification processes. ![]()
Can you help me get a job offer so I can move to Canada?
No. We help people in Canada who have already received a work permit issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada to find work in the Niagara Region. In order to register with us, you would first have to go to the Canadian Consulate nearest you. Once you have received a work permit, you can contact us and we will assist you in finding work in our region. ![]()
As an employer, can the EHC assist with recruiting needs?
Yes. The EHC has an active roster of job seekers that possess a wide variance of skills and experience. The EHC will aim to match one of our job seekers to your needs. In addition, we can post vacancies within your company and also collaborate with your company to organize and host job fairs. ![]()
As an employer, how do I register for Job Matching?
Call and ask to speak to one of our Job Developers at the office closest to your business address. The Job Developer will discuss with you your hiring needs, position(s) to be filled, arrange an onsite visit, review training objectives and complete a workplace safety questionnaire. ![]()
How do I get applicants for open positions in my company/organization?
The job description you provide to your Job Developer will be posted on our website and forwarded to all EHC Job Developers to discuss with their clients. You can choose your method for collecting resumes -- collect them at the EHC office or have them either faxed or emailed to your office. ![]()
I've interviewed the candidates you sent me and I'd like to hire one. What do I do?
Contact your EHC Job Developer and advise them of your intention to hire one (or more) of the candidates we referred. The Job Developer will review the client's file to determine eligibility for subsidy. We will then make arrangements for the employer, client, and Job Developer to meet at a convenient time to complete the necessary paperwork (placement contract, training plan). ![]()
