Driver & Warehouse Associate – #5813 -T

Reporting to the ReStore Manager and working together in a team environment with the Warehouse Lead, the Customer Service Associate and working together with the staff of the ReStore, the Driver and warehouse associate is the outside link to our donor. This position fosters Habitat for Humanity’s professionalism by fully servicing and stewardship of our donors relating to the pick-up of merchandise suitable for resale in our ReStore. Responsibilities include: truck maintenance and servicing, warehouse upkeep, forklift operation, customer service, sales and merchandising when needed.
Safety:
- Reports any safety hazard to RM
- Ensures 100% compliance to all safety policies and procedures and utilizes appropriate safety equipment and seeks assistance when necessary
- Actively pursues safety improvements
- Certification in 1st Aid as required
- Careful, cautious and safe operation of truck utilizing all available resources and methods that is in compliance with all rules, regulations and laws
Customer/Vendor Donations pickup:
- Maintain professional and consistent communication when interacting with donors, customers and staff
- Coordinate and arrange pick-up of goods by geographic zones
- Ability to drive a cube van or larger straight truck (standard G license required)
- Provides direction to ‘volunteers on pick up and deliveries to ensure safe and effective completion of all duties
Truck maintenance and servicing:
- Completion of the daily log book as per MOT guidelines
- Coordinate maintenance and servicing of vehicle
- Advise the ReStore Manager and Warehouse Lead of vehicle status; downtime, maintenance and repairs
Warehouse and Grounds upkeep:
- Receiving of new suitable and saleable inventory
- Direction of volunteers to bring product to the floor, housekeeping of their work areas
- Use of the forklift to CSA standards
- Tends to the clean-up and of the store’s back yard
- Maintenance of SOLD area (if applicable)
Pricing of Inventory:
- Ensures all inventory has clear and visible pricing before coming onto the floor
- Researching new product and pricing for maximum return
Cataloguing of product pricing for future use
- Post-Secondary Education or equivalent
- Standard G type license and/or trained in commercial vehicle operation
- Experience preferred in customer service related field, warehouse management and forklift certified
- Ability to communicate in a professional manner with donors, volunteers, and staff members
- Sound judgment, prioritization skills
- Self-starter, high energy and strong independent work ethic
- Computer literate; MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Database Management software experience
- Demonstrates ability to multi-task and is team-oriented
- Experience working in volunteer organization
- Possess a clean and valid G driver’s license and maintain in good standing
- Lifting required, at times heavy lifting (50-75 lbs.)
