Smithville Home Hardware is currently seeking a Department Lead to join their team.

Purpose:

To be product knowledge experts in their designated department(s), ensuring the department has the right product assortment for the customer demographic and creating a department that exceeds customer expectations.

Duties:
  • Maintain displays in assigned department
  • Ensure displays are accurately signed, well merchandised
  • Engage in discussions with customers using open ended questions to determine project needs
  • Ensure customer obtains all products needed to complete project leading to increased sales and basket size
  • Keep merchandise full and prices accurate
  • Maintain departmental inventory at desired levels for maximum turnover and profitability
  • Participate in regular cycle counting and annual inventory counts
  • Maintain awareness of all instore promotions and industry trends, recommend items in the department to be advertised and promoted to build traffic
  • Assist in training and development of new team members
  • Complete other projects and duties assigned by management
  • Review Corporate updates and newsletters weekly on Connect to stay current on new items and processes –make recommendation on updates for department
  • Attend store meetings as required (meetings may be after store hours)
  • Regularly engage with customers while they are in the store be aware of where customers are watch for potential theft activity
