The Employment Help Centre is seeking a full-time Resource Advisor for West Niagara. As a Resource Advisor, you will be a key front-line member of the EHC team, helping job seekers navigate employment services, identify their needs, access community resources and take the next steps toward meaningful employment. The role combines client service, employment resource support, intake and referral, administrative responsibilities, and participation in community employment initiatives. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Mgr. of Employment Programs & Services and in close contact with the rest of the staff while providing professional employment services to the clientele of the Employment Help Centre.
- Providing information to clients on the resources and services available through EHC, Employment Ontario programs and services, and supports in the community for individuals and employers
- Obtain required information from walk-in and referred job seekers in order to schedule them an intake appointment
- Collect initial information from clients to direct individuals to the service components that best meet client needs and make appropriate referrals to other community resources if necessary
- Conduct appointment reminder calls and follow ups with job seekers
- Assist with computer usage, access to internet based services and office equipment (phone, copier, and fax) to support job search
- Ability to travel between EHC sites in the event that Resource Advisor coverage is required
- Maintain current and relevant resources (information, brochures, samples) for clients in the Resource and Information area
- Answer all incoming phone calls and e-mail inquiries and redirect as necessary
- Participate in special events (job fairs, hiring events) and training programs
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, internet-based employment resources, online job-search platforms, email and the ability to quickly learn new software and client information systems
- Experience and/or education in an employment related agency, social services or consulting
- A valid driver’s licence with transportation and ability to travel within the Niagara Region as necessary
- Knowledge of Employment Ontario programs and services is an asset; willingness and ability to quickly develop a strong understanding of Employment Ontario requirements is essential
- Knowledge and awareness of local social services
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong customer/client service orientation
- Ability to deal professionally with difficult or challenging situations
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, along with attention to detail and accurate record keeping
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Adaptability in a busy, client-facing environment
