The Town of Lincoln is hiring a Temporary Finance Clerk. The Town of Lincoln, located in the beautiful Niagara Region, offers a unique environment that encompasses Lake Ontario, the Bruce Trail and Niagara Escarpment and is situated between Hamilton and St. Catharines. Reporting to the Manager of Accounting, the Finance Clerk is a key ambassador that assists with handling customer inquiries promptly and professionally in addition to the processing and balancing of cash receipts, including payments at the counter, in the mail and online. Key responsibilities are shared between multiple Finance Clerks who collaborate to ensure accuracy and completeness of billing, collection and payment processes.
The successful candidate must possess the following:
• Post-secondary diploma or degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum one (1) year relevant experience in cash handling, office administration or customer service
• Experience with billing and collections would be considered an asset.
• Excellent customer service skills, creating a positive experience when interacting with customers with patience, empathy, and technical knowledge.
• Proven ability to communicate successfully and confidently both verbally and in writing.
• Proficient in reconciliations and account balancing
• Experience in banking or cash handling is considered an asset.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit professionalism in all interactions.
• Ability to work well independently and within a team environment.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, and time management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail; ability to work in a fast-paced environment with regular interruptions.
• Highly organized with exceptional time management skills.
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite.
• Experience in a municipal environment would be considered an asset.
This is a C.U.P.E. position with an hourly wage of $29.79 increasing to $33.10 after 120 working days, based on a 35-hour work week.
