Maple Lodge Hatcheries Ltd. (Fleming Chicks) located in Beamsville is actively seeking an experienced Maintenance person to join their team. This position offers full time hours.

Duties:
  • Ensuring facility systems/equipment is operating within parameters
  • Providing general maintenance duties for all aspects of the Hatchery and Office facility
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of Hatchery production machines
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make necessary adjustments
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment as needed
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities
  • Maintain accurate records for maintenance logs and preventive maintenance program
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
  • Responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining heating and cooling systems
  • Ensure all facility lighting fixtures are in property working order
  • Generate parts requests to ensure an adequate inventory of parts
  • Order and receive maintenance supplies and parts
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
  • The successful candidate will be required to learn the hatchery equipment and train to do weekly on-call rotational duties as needed. The on-call duties may include evenings, weekends, and holidays which requires a valid Ontario license
  • Adhere/comply with company policies and procedures
  • Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner
  • Promote and comply with all Maple Lodge Farms Health & Safety, Quality Assurance, and Environmental Management policies, procedures and controls to ensure a healthy and safe work environment
Requirements:

Necessary Knowledge and Experience:

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience required in a maintenance role; preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience working with HVAC systems, pipefitting, plumbing repairs, and/or previous experience working with food processing equipment
  • Physical ability to perform duties; including but not limited to bending, lifting to a maximum of 50 lbs., etc.
  • Strong English language skills; oral and written
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable working with live animals
  • General Computer Skills (e.g. MS Office)

Education and Certification Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent required
  • Certification in a trade is an asset
  • Valid ON driver’s license
