Modern Landfill

Modern Landfill is currently seeking Driver Helper’s to join their team. The Driver Helper provides support to our driving staff in collecting commercial and residential trash and recycling. Primary purpose of this job is to lift or pick up trash and recycling and place it in the collection vehicle in a safe, timely manner. This position is very physical and requires frequent lifting, bending, and walking.

Duties:
  • Ride on the vehicle to assist the Driver while servicing customers on a designated route
  • Operate packing mechanism and various levers and handles to activate the lifting and loading mechanism
  • Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body on each disposal trip; spray and clean the hopper and truck, if applicable
  • Courteously interact with all customers, dispatchers and others on a daily basis to ensure all customer routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner
  • Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste
  • Clean area around an accidental waste spill, ensuring adherence to all applicable safety standards and policies
  • Maintain adherence to required productivity standards for the department to ensure all customers are serviced in a timely and efficient manner
  • Follow all required safety policies and procedures
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • No experience required
  • Experience performing general labor tasks, especially where heavy lifting is required is preferred
  • Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs consistently, up to 40 lbs occasionally
  • Position is exposed to all elements - role is outside majority of the time
  • Must be able to follow verbal and written instructions

  • Position includes benefits
  • Overtime is paid after 40 hours
  • Retention bonus of $8000.00 paid quarterly
