Niagara Peninsula Aboriginal Area Management Board

Under the direction of the NPAAMB Executive Director, the Youth Services Officer is responsible for providing career and employment counseling, facilitating recruitment and intake of new youth clients in order to secure employment opportunities for residents within the catchment areas. This is a contract position: 40 Hours per week; 12 months (maternity leave) or until May 15, 2019.

Duties:
  • Facilitating Career Planning and Case Management for individual Youth clients
  • Identifying and Implementing employment/training opportunities to assist clients in the school, workplace and in the community
  • Assisting individuals and communities to secure funding for employment and skills development training initiatives through a local delivery service network
  • Provide adequate services resulting in increased employment opportunities and reduced individual dependence on social programs
  • Regularly administer, Monitor and Track Client results in Training, Back to School and/or Employment, compile case-management data into Contact IV and/or KETO
  • Develop local employer partnerships within the Niagara area
Requirements:
  • Post Secondary diploma or degree in Social Sciences or equivalency of, and/or a minimum, three years (3) proven work experience in a client case management, human and/or social servies
  • Experience and awareness of career/employment counseling techniques, group facilitation, individual case management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to market NPAAMB services to prospective partners and employers in catchment area by utilizing excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proven self starter with strong planning, time management and analytical skills
  • Experience working with youth ages 15-30
  • Experience working with Indigenous clients and awaress of Indigenous history, culture(s) and demographics considered an asset
  • Proficient understanding of labour market information (LMI) relevant to southern Ontario considered an asset
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with Youth, Aboriginal community, community groups and employers in the local catchment area
  • Clear criminal record check/ acceptable vulnerable sector check
  • Valid driver's licence and access to insured, licensed automobile
