Premier Kosher was established in 2018 and is a leader in the Kosher Poultry Industry. We are presently processing up to 14,000 chickens per day and are only one of two Kosher poultry processors in Canada. Our plant is federally inspected and HAACP recognized. - Review, develop, implement and maintain HR policies and procedures
- Update and improve employee handbook and policies contained within
- Coordinating training of updated policies and procedures
- Analyze effectiveness of training review/revise programs as necessary
- Manage and develop Health and Safety Program and Training
- Evaluate and update policies and procedures including, but not limited to H&S general policies, H&S job specific training, lockout/tagout, WHMIS, mobile equipment, and working at heights
- Ensure company practices comply with OSHA and relevant regulations and keep up-to-date on any changes
- Chair and organize the JHSC committee, inclusive of meetings, inspections, and incident investigations
- Maintain H&S supplies and inventories, including first aid
- Liaison with WSIB contacts and complete all related WSIB forms when required
- Act as point of contact for any Ministry of Labour inspections or communication
- Design and execute recruiting and onboarding programs
- Coordinate and interview with hiring manager and reference check all new positions for plant
- Prepare and collect completed new hire packages
- Coordinate orientation and onboarding of new employees
- Development performance management practices & take an active role in coaching
- Actively participate and ensure documentation in employee reviews, discipline, and training
- Coach supervisors, lead hands, and employees in various HR related issues
- Support management team in various tasks as necessary to ensure the smooth operations of the facility
- Act as back-up in essential task to support the small plant management team
- 3-5 years’ experience in Human Resources or Health and Safety
- 3-5 years’ experience at a manufacturing facility
- University degree or post-graduate certificate in Human Resources or CHRL designation an asset
- Strong skills in conflict resolution
- Working knowledge of Ontario employment and H&S legislation
- Demonstrate effective leadership to implement HR and H&S programs in the facility
- Ability to multitask priorities in a busy environment is required
- Proven ability to achieve sustainable improvement within a short time frame
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize
- Must be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
Environment:
- Office environment within plant facility
- Meat slaughter and packing plant environment, duties will require you to spend time in plant
- Plant Environment is noisy, strong odors
- Live poultry in slaughter department, cold in packing department
- Wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) and hygiene equipment, including but not limited to steel mesh guards, bump cap/hard hat, steel-toed footwear, hearing protection, smock, and gloves AS necessary
