Premier Kosher, located in the Hamilton/Niagara region, is currently seeking a ‘hands on’ Maintenance Manager for its food processing plant (poultry). The Maintenance Manager will ensure that all plant equipment and facility are working at optimal efficiency and effectiveness.

Duties:
  • In conjunction with the Plant Operations Manager, ensure all equipment is properly installed
  • Working with internal and external maintenance personnel, repair, test, adjust, and maintain all plant equipment (refrigeration systems, pumps, ventilation, conveyors, water treatment, etc.) as needed
  • Direct preventative maintenance and safety inspection program for all equipment
  • Continue to develop and improve standards to meet health and safety compliance
  • Maintain records on all maintenance and repairs to machines and facility
  • Monitor and control supplies
  • Order supplies and tools as necessary
  • Prepare documents for equipment purchases
  • Prioritize and assign work as required
  • Ensure that all work being performed, is monitored to be cost effective and completed in a timely manner
  • Provide safety leadership and coach team members in the achievement and maintenance of safety standards
  • Develop and implement standards and procedures that meet all statutory/regulatory requirements
Requirements:
  • Refrigeration “B” license or Certification as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) would be an asset
  • Bachelor Degree – technical discipline
  • Experience with food processing, CFIA and HACCP would be an asset
  • Must be knowledgeable and be able to follow GMPs, Food Safety and Health and Safety requirements
  • Working experience in Electrical, Mechanical (pumps, compressors, conveyors, etc.), Hydraulics, and Pneumatics, and welding
  • 5+ years’ experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment (food processing preferred) with a proven track record in outstanding results
  • 2-4 years’ experience in a leadership role preferred
  • Must be willing to work in unfavorable conditions (live processing ‘by-products’, sanitation, wet, cold, hot, etc.)
  • Knowledge & experience in Preventive Maintenance and Recording Systems
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Possesses sound knowledge of troubleshooting, adjusting or repairing equipment
  • Highly developed interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Ability to delegate and hold people accountable for results/satisfactory completion of tasks
