Accounting Clerk – #6544 – A
The Accounting Clerk is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. Responsible for processing multi-company accounting transactions efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy. The Accounting Clerk supervises one (1) Accounts Payable Coordinator and is responsible for ensuring that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities. The Accounting Clerk reports directly to the VP Finance. This is a Full Time (Contract with/possibility of going firm)
- Reconcile the cost control sheet against job costs to ensure invoices are allocated correctly
- Record holdbacks from vendors by maintaining control sheets
- Record purchaser deposit cheques in Timberline
- Reconcile the deposits in trust as reported by the lawyer’s trust account
- Record necessary entries for house closings
- Ensure timely receipt of all deposits and purchaser ledger, and ensure accurate account balances by project
- Reconcile job costing to the General Ledger to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Review General Ledger accounts to ensure the expense and cost allocation is correct
- Prepare and post various journal entries to the General Ledger, including fixed assets, depreciation, accruals and year end entries
- Process accounts receivable, including all deposits and closing proceeds
- Monitor payments for rental properties and CAM by reconciling payments to schedules and identifying if payments are required
- File monthly HST
- Bank Reconciliations
- Close month end in Timberline
- Prepare miscellaneous reports as needed
- Provide backup to reception
- Other duties as assigned

- College Diploma in Accounting, Finance
- 1-3 years Accounting Experience
- 1-2 years Construction Experience
- MUST have experience using Timberline/Sage 300
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
