Township of West Lincoln

The Water & Wastewater Operator is responsible for all aspects of the water & wastewater infrastructure and distribution system. This includes repairs, installations and operations of water and wastewater mains, water services, wastewater laterals, water meters and water meter equipment. In addition, this position performs work projects that include excavating lands, performing repairs and maintenance processes to other Township infrastructure. This position is also required to perform winter roadway maintenance, including snow clearing and sanding during the winter roadway maintenance season.

Duties:

Water main maintenance:

  • Replace and repair water main
  • Complete bacteria water sampling
  • Service, repair and install fire hydrants

Water meter maintenance:

  • Valve and valve box maintenance, repair and replacement
  • Meter installation, repair and replacement
  • Perform meter readings
  • Complete water main, sewer and services locates
  • Flush Distribution system and winterize hydrants

Customer service:

  • Address resident complaints regarding water / waste water concerns
  • Deliver shut off notices and collect outstanding bills
  • Maintain tools and equipment
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies and be “on call” as assigned
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
  • Complete field utility locates
  • Perform winter roadway/sidewalk maintenance activities
Requirements:

EDUCATION

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent
  • MOE Water Distribution System Class 1
  • MOE Waste Water Collection System Class 1
  • Meter Installer Licence
  • Confined Space rescue and entry training
  • CPR and First Aid

EXPERIENCE

  • 3 – 4 years’ experience in the Water/Wastewater field or similar environment

SKILLS

  • Experience using Trimble Geo-locates data logger and database programs an asset
  • Understanding of Government Regulations and enforcement procedures
  • Be able to read and understand blueprints
  • Basic mathematical skills

Must possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted Class G Ontario drivers license. DZ License will be considered an asset.

Must maintain Water & Wastewater Licences as per Ministry guidelines
