Physiotherapy Assistant – #6802 – S
Position summary:
The Physiotherapy Assistant will carry out delegated patient treatments based on the treatment plan as prescribed by the Physiotherapist and will assist the therapist(s) with patient-related activities.
Hours and days of work are flexible and can be determined with a minimum of two days per week 16-18 hours. There is the potential for hours to increase up to 23 hours per week after COVID. Remuneration will be determined based on experience.
Responsibilities (not limited to this) include:
- Monitors and progresses patient’s therapy program as needed within the range directed by the PT
- Reviews chart ahead of patient arrival so that the treatment program is known and can be carried out
- Performs Subjective and Objective charting and makes sure that it is reflective of the current treatment and changes and that the chart is up to date
- Supervises and instructs exercise programs as assigned by the PT
- Positions patients and performs range of motion exercises directed and assigned by the PT
- Provides assistance to the PT during treatment
- Prepares and applies modalities as directed by the PT and relieves PT from performing/setting up modalities (ultrasound, IFC, TENS, etc)
- Contribute to a positive clinic environment and providing exceptional customer service
- Provide administrative tasks as needed such as answering phone calls and scheduling appointments
- Schedule patients appointments and be aware of their appointment schedule
- Establish/revise and send or print exercise program for patients
- Assist patients with competition of paperwork and outcome measures
- General upkeep of the rehabilitation space
- Fill ultrasound bottles, hand soap, candy jar, business cards and pamphlets, Biofreeze samples, cleaning bottles, water bottle for ice packs
- Water plants as required
- Make sure hydrocollator has enough water
- Stock acupuncture bins with needles in all sizes as required
- Clean plinths after each patient and put a clean towel on pillow
- Restock treatment rooms and carts with towels
- Restock fridge with water for patients as required
- Defrost freezer monthly
- Clean hydrocollator biweekly
- Laundry
- Qualified applicants must be a graduate of an accredited OTA/PTA program and possess an Occupational Therapy Assistant/ Physiotherapy Assistant Diploma
- Excellent knowledge of orthopaedic, neurological and geriatric conditions
- High level of organizational and time management skills
- They should be a quick learner & an, exceptionally fast worker, able to multi-task & pay extreme attention to detail and possess a happy disposition
- Must be fluent in reading, writing and oral communication of the English language and have excellent oral and non-verbal communication skills with patients and colleagues
