VRE Systems
The role of Tow Motor/Material Handler is to ensure effective and efficient movement of merchandise and other items from one location to another on property and includes assisting coworkers and following all company health and safety regulations. A strong work ethic and attention to detail are essential in this position.
- Load and unload shipments
- Move merchandise to the correct storage location or to other units within the company either by forklift or by hand
- Building, picking, weighing and packing orders, by hand if the situation demands
- Perform quality checks on inbound goods
- Follow all quality control procedures to meet quality objectives
- Identify and report mechanical/electrical fault, damage or safety concerns to the Wheelhouse Supervisor
- Pack and move items, other than goods, as instructed by the supervisor
- Ensure equipment is kept clean and properly stored
- Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner
- Ensure regulated and proper headgear, ear plugs, gloves, safety glasses and clothing are worn
- Work in compliance with all Health and Safety, Workplace and WHMIS regulations
- Duties and responsibilities may be amended from time to time in order to support efficient company operations
- High school or equivalent educational experience
- Have a valid driving license to operate a forklift and other motorized machines
- Knowledge of warehouse arrangement and functionality an asset
- Willing and able to work in extreme temperatures and environments
- Ability to safely operate a variety of tools including, hand tools, drills, saws, grinders
- Have a strong understanding of both Imperial and Metric measurements and be able to accurately use measuring tools
- Ability to follow instructions and effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Ability to read and understand VRE orders and specification drawings
- Ability to respond quickly in a dynamic and changing environment
- Ability to work individually as well as cooperatively with others
Working Conditions:
- Able to lift loads up to 50lbs without a lift truck
- Extended periods of sitting/standing and bending
- Interaction with team members and all levels of management
- Working in a loud, busy production environment with frequent interruptions
- Starting wage of $17/hr
- Occasional overtime required
