West Lincoln Chamber of Commerce
The West Lincoln Chamber of Commerce is looking for their next Executive Director.
The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for innovating and managing the day-to-day operations of the West Lincoln Chamber of Commerce office and building strong relationships between members, as well as with members and potential members, with the business community, with elected officials, with service providers, and with other Chamber peers. The overarching purpose of the West Lincoln Chamber of Commerce is to be the local resource for local businesses.
The ED acts on behalf of, and is responsible to, The Board of Directors (the Board). The ED is a well-rounded business professional eager to take on a wide range of tasks, projects and deadlines, and be responsible for performing all duties necessary to keep the Chamber a vibrant, relevant, and engaged presence within our local and regional business community.
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Member Relationships
- Regularly connect with, and develop relationships with each member and potential members
- Maintain an accurate record for each member and potential member regarding their business and their expectations of the
Chamber - Create opportunities for members to build and maintain relationships between themselves through proactive and creative
communication - Innovate, develop, plan, execute, and attend a variety of membership events designed to further the members’ perceived
value of the Chamber - Understand the trends in the Chamber industry and being an active member of the Chamber Executives of Ontario
Member Communications, Sales and Marketing
- Innovate to create, implement and manage growth plans to increase membership revenue, sponsorship, and advertising
opportunities - Innovate to create, implement and manage marketing campaigns to sell Chamber memberships
- Target and actively recruit new members (bricks & mortar and e-commerce businesses) by contacting business owners and
managers, and providing high-value interactions and information packages - Innovate to solicit sponsorships and sales of ticketed events
- Innovate to create, implement and manage member-paid advertising programs
- Innovate to create, implement and manage all communications and social media activities
- Manage the website, social media, Membee, and Constant Contact
- Update the website on an ongoing basis
Advocacy and Community Relationships
- Establish relationships with community groups, outside funders/sponsors, media, business leaders and other organizations to produce data to foster innovation and produce member resources
- Build relationships with other community leaders and associations to be part of the conversation regarding business and economic development in our community. Of particular importance are agriculture, manufacturing, retail, service, and tourism
industries - Actively work to build relationships at all levels of government; municipal, regional, provincial and federal to produce data to
foster innovation and to produce member resources - Prepare and communicate official position statements on public issues
Administration
- Oversee and maintain all office and administrative duties
- Prioritize day-to-day operations and tasks based on providing maximum value to the membership
- Prepare for, develop content, and participate in monthly Board of Director Meetings (recess July & August)
- Follow up on action items identified at Board and Committee meetings
- Recruit committee members for a wide range of short-term initiatives, plan meetings with the committee chairs
- Develop and improve committee implementation plans and supporting materials for committees to deliver their mandate
- Recruit, train, develop, evaluate, and discharge intern staff, volunteers, and contractors
Bookkeeping and Finance
- Perform all bookkeeping tasks including invoicing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and project-specific budgets
- Identify opportunities and submit funding applications
- Work in conjunction with the bookkeeper on government remittances, monthly financial reports, and monthly and annual
reconciliations
Note: And any other duties as assigned to achieve the West Lincoln Chamber of Commerce’s Strategic Plan
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma/degree in a related field such as business, communications, marketing, public administration
- A minimum of five years office management experience
- Valid driver’s license – clean abstract, vehicle to travel to various locations
- Non-profit experience, either paid or volunteer, an asset
- Strong office technology skills including Microsoft Office
- Experienced user of social media platforms including FaceBook, Instagram and LinkedIn
- Excellent interpersonal and business communication skills
- Professional appearance, phone manner, and presentation skills
- Availability to work evenings or weekends when needed

Working Conditions:
- Full-time permanent; 32-hours per week. Some flexibility in daily work hours is required to attend Chamber events
- Work in the office for at least 4 hours per day
- Salary plus 20% one-time commission for all new members
- $0.57/km to reimburse travel to and from the office, to businesses and Chamber events
- 10 paid vacation days taken within the year it is earned. Vacation requests are submitted to The Board at least one month in
advance - Up to 64 hours of paid sick time is provided per year when illness prevents the employee from performing work
- Medical liability as per Chamber Board of Director policy with Meester Insurance Centre
